Frequently Asked Questions
Air conditioning
How much is it to re-gas my air conditioning system?
The price depends a lot on the make and model of the vehicle. The basic price is between $135.00 and $185.00.
What is the problem when my air conditioner is not working anymore?
The reason for this could be a range of things from having no refrigerant in the system to an electrical fault. For a professional diagnosis, go to Radiators Plus and get your vehicle serviced.
I had some work done to my vehicles motor. I had been involved in an accident and the air conditioning system needs re-charging. What is involved and can I make an appointment to have it repaired?
No problem, we start by fully nitrogen testing your system for leaks, this is when repairs are undertaken. If ok we then fit new dryer/accumulator (filter), test for leakage and then the system is ready for re-charging.
My vehicle’s aluminium lines and rubber hoses are cracked or damaged, what should I do?
Radiators Plus can replicate any rubber hose and TIG weld in fittings to suit including running full alloy lines.
My car is quite old and my air conditioning system is not working anymore, what should I do?
Your car may need to be “Retrofitted” so the system will accept the new R134A refrigerant. This is quite involved and can be a very complex process. Ring Radiators Plus to discuss the best option.
Do you replace the cabin filter?
These can be one of the most overlooked items in the air conditioning system. Radiators Plus can check, possibly clean or replace dirty cabin filters.
Do I really need to put a new receiver/dryer (filter) on my vehicle?
Yes, for starters, it is against regulations not to replace the receiver/dryer filter. It should be changed at every service. Secondly, you wouldn’t change your engine oil without changing the oil filter.
How often should I run my air conditioning?
You should run the air conditioning system at least for a few minutes once a week to keep seals and orings from drying out. Run in the winter months on the hot setting to regularly demist windows.
